Electricity monitoring without one-number thinking

Can Volts read our existing electricity meters?

Often, but not automatically. Compatibility depends on the meter model, available output, protocol, wiring, gateway and access. The site survey produces the confirmed connection method for each device.

What power-quality data do we get?

Volts reads whatever the meter exposes, which on most modern meters goes well beyond consumption.

How can peak monitoring save money?

On tariffs with a demand component, the costly interval may be set by the highest measured demand rather than total energy alone. Volts can warn as demand rises and identify loads available for an approved response.

Can we bill departments or tenants from this data?

Yes, when the meter chain and reading quality meet the agreed billing requirements. Volts then connects the reading, tariff and allocation basis to the resulting charge.

How often are readings updated?

Reading interval depends on the meter and the connection. Billing, live monitoring and power-quality analysis may require different intervals.

What happens when a meter stops sending data?

The device keeps measuring. Readings are held in onboard memory and sent when the meter is reachable again, so a communications drop is usually recovered rather than lost. Anything that cannot be recovered is interpolated and stays marked as interpolated, separate from measured data.

Does every electricity tariff include a peak-demand charge?

No. Tariff components vary by contract and market. Volts should show peak-cost claims only when a configured tariff actually prices demand or another threshold-based component.

Can monitoring find the equipment causing the load?

Only to the granularity of connected meters and circuits, unless additional equipment context is available. Volts can narrow the source and preserve the evidence; physical diagnosis may still require the site team.
